Emails Going to Spam
If your outgoing emails are landing in recipients' spam folders, there are a few things you can check and fix.
Set Up SPF and DKIM Records
SPF and DKIM are DNS records that prove your emails are legitimately sent from your domain. Without them, many email providers treat your messages with suspicion.
Your Branded Inbox welcome email includes the SPF and DKIM values to add to your domain's DNS. If you haven't added these yet, do it now — it's the single most effective fix for spam issues.
Check Your Domain Reputation
Use Mail Tester to send a test email and get a spam score. It will identify exactly what's triggering spam filters.
Warm Up a New Domain
If your domain is brand new, it has no sending history — which makes spam filters cautious. Start by sending small volumes of email, gradually increasing over 2-4 weeks. Avoid sending bulk email immediately from a new domain.
Review Your Email Content
Certain content triggers spam filters:
- ALL CAPS subject lines
- Excessive exclamation points!!!
- Spammy phrases ("FREE", "CLICK NOW", "LIMITED TIME")
- Broken HTML or too many images with little text
Ask Recipients to Whitelist You
For important contacts, ask them to add your address to their contacts or mark your email as "Not Spam" — this trains their inbox to trust you.
